Interdisciplinary Research on Emotions in Neuroscience and Philosophy

Andrés Sánchez Guerrero, MD, BA

I grew up in Bogotá, Colombia, where I studied Music and Medicine and obtained my MD in 2004 (Pontificia Universidad Javeriana). During medical school I participated in clinical rotations abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, (music therapy) and in Pittsburgh, USA (Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic: Child- and adolescent psychiatry). After graduating from medical school, I got the opportunity to participate, as invited physician/researcher (Gastarzt), in a project on early detection of psychosis at the Psychiatric Outpatients Clinic of the University Hospital in Basel (Switzerland). Subsequently, I worked, as clinical resident in psychiatry and psychotherapy, in the Psychiatric Clinic Königsfelden (Brugg, Switzerland). In 2009, I obtained my BA (summa cum laude) in Philosophy and Sociology with supplementary diploma in Science Studies from the University of Basel. I am fortunate enough to work as a research fellow at the Institute of Cognitive Science of the University of Osnabrück were I am finishing my MSc thesis on collective affective intentionality and beginning to write my dissertation in the PhD-program in Cognitive Science.
